Meet Addison Willow

Our little angel is finally here. At 41 weeks and 2 days, we were sent to the hospital for our induction since the little one made no progress on her own. I guess she was a little comfy. On Sunday, May 6, 2012, we headed to the hospital so they could begin the 2 stage induction process. The first stage of the induction worked perfectly, and I began going into labor around 3 in the morning. Around 5:45, they started the pitocin which helped the labor move forward. By the 11:00 am check, I was already 5cm dilated and the doctor was surprised and pleased that we had come so far. And then the best news came around 4:00pm when we discovered that we were 9.5 cm dilated. Again, the doctor was shocked that we were so far. At 5:23, the pushing began, and at 6:16 p.m. on May 7, 2012, our little sweet baby girl entered the world.

Luckily (for me), she wasn’t quite as big as they projected her to be. At the 41 week ultrasound, they thought she was already 9 pounds (especially since her daddy was almost a 10-pounder). Our little Addison weighed in at 8 pounds 6 ounces and was 20 1/4 inches.

As soon as she came out, everyone began talking about how much she looked like daddy. What do you think? Secretly, this mommy is holding out hope that something about her will look like mommy.

Baby Shower

On March 10th, my sister threw a BABY BLING shower in honor of Addison at my mom’s house. It was a great shower filled with friends and family. We felt so lucky that some even traveled from afar. And for those who couldn’t make it, your presence was definitely felt. The shower started with a pregnant girls favorite part – food! Check out the awesome spread:

My sister also pulled out her creative chops. She made adorable pom poms that hung around the house. Also in the living room, she hung a clothes line of newborn clothes. And who can forget the invites – they were onesies that she glued on flowers with little bling inside each flower. Too cute!

After we ate, it was time to open presents. I must admit showers for little girls can be so much cuter than showers for little boys. Every outfit and thing I opened everyone was “ooooing” and “aaahhhhing”.

Check out Addison’s first pair of daisy dukes…. these just make her dad nervous.

And who knew I had such talented friends? Look at the diaper cake made by Sondra and Kelly.

We were in awe in everyone’s generosity in showering Addison. Thank you for everyone that made the shower so special! She is one lucky girl to be so loved!

Addison’s Room

Since we are still waiting at 40 weeks and 1 day (who’s counting?), I thought we would post pictures from Addison’s room. It’s all ready – just waiting for our sweet, little girl.

Once we found out we were having a girl, we put up a fight determined not to make everything so pink. Well, to anyone that has had a baby girl, they know that’s picking a losing battle. So rather than fight it, we embraced the pink.  The color of her walls are even called “Baby Girl Pink”.

We came across her bedding online when Billy googled “Addison crib bedding”. The search landed us to modpeapod.com, a custom bedding site that had the most perfect crib set called Addison Pink Damask Bedding. How could we resist? We also purchased extra yardage of the green damask so i could make matching valances. Also, check out below the monogramming they put on her bumper for us.

Once we had the bedding in place, it was time to plan out the rest of the room. We found online a wall decal came in 70 pieces. Luckily, it only took us about an hour to put up. Good teamwork!

We also decided to do a photo collage of our family.  We found some baby pictures of both Billy and I while leaving a few open slots for Addison’s pictures. We decided this would be a fun way to see who she looks like as she grows.

On the other side of the room, we added her dresser and some shelves to help store her already growing pile of stuffed animals. We knew we didn’t have enough room for a separate changing table so we attached a changing pad to the top of the dresser. All in all, we are pretty happy with her room and hope she loves it as much as we do.
